Food is a bare necessity of life and has to be safe. Agricultural products are not only of vital importance for people, also insects feed themselves with the products. These insects cause loss of quality and volume and therefor it is necessary to control them. Traditionally this is done by fumigation with toxic chemicals, which require increasing dosages due to build-up of insect resistance. It will also increase the already growing problems of pesticides residues.

Non-toxische disinfection:
To control insects in agricultural bulk goods, EcO2 offers a non-toxic solution with the non-toxic Controlled Atmosphere technique. This technique is extremely suitable to treat large quantities in a short period of time. The Controlled Atmosphere, accepted by SKAL to treat organic certified products, controls insects by means of low-oxygen in combination with the right temperature and humidity levels. Before the treatment starts, the contaminated buildings, silos and/or barges are sealed by taping up doors and cracks. Depending on the type of infestation, the duration of the treatment is 3 to 10 days. After treatment the entire bulk is free of living insects, larvae and eggs without any resistance or residues. Naturally, the Controlled Atmosphere is also used for preventive treatments of buildings or production lines.
