Preservation of Cultural Heritage against intruders!

Our cultural heritage is threatened by pest on a daily base. Pest that can damage your expensive objects irreparable. Many pest of frequent occurrence are silverfish, booklice, woodlice, woodworm, death watch beetles, longicorn, moth, cockroach, termites, ants and mites.

Through our yearlong experience in controlling pest in an environmental friendly way, EcO2 B.V. is the specialist for all your pest plagues. Innovation and developing are very important in our company. We always have a solution for your pest plague problems, and if not, we will develop one that is suitable.

Depending of the problem we can offer you the following pest control techniques:

- EcO2 Heattreatment technique
- EcO2 Modified Atmosphere technique
- EcO2 Controlled Atmosphere technique
- EcO2 Controlled Atmosphere technique Nomad

The technique mostly applied in archives, musea and libraries is the EcO2 Controlled Atmosphere technique. This technique is 100% effective and extremely suitable to treat your cultural heritage according to the Integrated Pest Management System. The EcO2 Controlled Atmosphere technique environmental friendly and safe for you and your employees because we do not use any toxic gasses, no residues will leave behind on the product. No resistance in the pest population will occur.

The EcO2 Controlled Atmosphere technique does not affect paper, paint, leather, textile, wood, metal, plastic, ink and varnish. The objects or products do not have to get out of their packaging (if packed in the right way) before the treatment starts. The safety of your objects or products is thus guaranteed. On central places throughout the Netherlands, we have built special climate chambers. In these chambers the level of humidity is closely watched and every desired atmosphere can be created according to the regulations of the Netherlands Institute of Cultural Heritage. The climate chambers are also suitable for preventive treatment of imported products or objects. In the newsletter of the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage, publication 3, year 2002, the Controlled Atmosphere is discussed in the section of Pest Control, written by Drs. A. Brokerhof.

Preventive
Objects from donations, acquisitions as well as objects that are borrowed cannot be easily moved from your deposits. Quarantine is the standard application, but does not give you the certainty that you did see every egg or larva in the object or product. However, a preventive treatment of EcO2 in one of our climate chambers does give you this security. We guarantee a 100% destruction of all eggs, larva, pupa and adult pests.

Is your object too valuable, too fragile or too big for transportation to our climate chambers? Not at all a problem for EcO2. With the Controlled Atmosphere technique Nomad we can treat objects and products on location with a mobile climate chamber. If this mobile installation is not large enough, it is also possible to treat the whole building including present objects.

Curative

There are two possibilities to treat infested objects of your archive, museum or depot with the EcO2 Controlled Atmosphere technology. The first possibility is to treat the archives or objects in our climate chambers combined with a treatment of the building. The second possibility is to use our mobile installation to carry out the treatment of the archive or objects on location including the building.

There is also a possibility to treat a small number of objects with our Controlled Atmosphere NOMAD technology which can be carried out at your own location. This technology is extremely suitable for treatment of valuable objects, which cannot leave the building. The EcO2 NOMAD technology is a small mobile installation with a gastight tent. The tent can be placed in every available area.

Because of the complexity of the treatment of cultural heritage and other valuable objects, we are happy to inform you in more detail about our technologies in a personal meeting.
