Researchers and engineers of EcO2 B.V have modified the controlled atmosphere equipment in such a way that treatment times for agro products can be decreased from the normal treatment time of 9 days towards a spectacular 1 to 5 days.
This innovation means a big leap in competitiveness in comparison with traditional chemical fumigations. Further adjustment of treatment times means better integration in logistical processes; one of the elements of being a good alternative for Methyl Bromide and Phosphine.
With this new process also all stages of insect life will be totally eliminated without leaving any residues or damage to the product; keeping composition, taste, colour, fragrance and other product characteristics in perfect condition.
This technique will be implemented in all new systems that are ordered and in the new facility in India. Until now several of these so called rapid treatment systems have been ordered in the 4 th quarter of 2006 by clients from all over the world.

EcO2 India Co. Ltd and its joint-venture partners announce the start of the construction of the
first EcO2 Service Terminal in Indore, in the central state of Madhya Pradesh. The terminal will be constructed in the hart of the logistical hub of India in the Special Economic Zone of Pithampur near the city of Indore.
With all major roads and railways nearby the terminal offers its clients state of art food processing services such as disinfecting, sterilising, cleaning, sorting, grading and packing to get products ready for export to all over the world.
The terminal starts with the processing of different grains and pulses like rice, sesame seed but also herbs and spices. The facility will be ISO 22000/HACCP/BRC certified. Clients can bring products in and receive their products in a retail pack back.
With the natural fumigation system and advanced methods of sterilisation all types of contaminations can be eliminated. The start of the services will be in January 2007.
This will be the first service centre in India soon to be followed by more additional service centres throughout the country. All types of contaminations can be eliminated with the EcOO2 natural fumigation system and advanced methods of sterilisation.

With a grand opening the services of EcO2 Vietnam Co. Ltd have been started! More than one hundred guests witnessed the spectacular opening ceremony.

EcO2 Vietnam Co. Ltd is conveniently located in the My Phuoc Industrial Park II, in the Binh Duong Province about one hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City’s container ports. EcO2 Vietnam Co. Ltd. offers sourcing, disinfecting, sterilisation, sorting, grading, packaging, storage and exporting of agro commodities and other products.
Products can also be repacked in several ways after treatment; from vacuum to modified atmosphere packing. Containers with the treated products will be disinfected before loading and will be sealed with special materials and meshing. This ensures no re-infestation during transport to the country of destination.
First customers are exporters of rice, cashew nuts and pepper.
But also furniture and handicrafts are already fumigated naturally to ensure safety for workers and a healthy environment.

EcO2B.V. announces partnership with Fumigat SRL from Italy

The management of EcO2 B.V. and the management of Fumigat SRL have signed an intention agreement to start the first ecological friendly treatment centre in Italy. Italy is one of the biggest producers and importers of agricultural products in Europe. The amount of chemically fumigated agro products is enormous, especially in the big container ports and the regional railway hubs.
The demand for natural products in Italy and export potential for these products out of Italy grows very fast. Several international clients of EcO2 B.V. requested a service centre in this country.
With Fumigat SRL as partner we think we can service our clients on the level that customers can expect from us. The terminal will be build in the port of Napoli. It will be up and running in the beginning of February 2007.

Construction of the EcO2 Facility near Ho Chi Minh has been started after the groundbreaking
ceremony was finished. Representatives of the three partners and local officials were present to witness the first escavations in the My Phouc 2 Industrial Parc in the Bing Duong Province, one hour drive from
Ho Chi Minh City.
EcO2 will open this brand new service terminal for Vietnam in the beginning of August 2006.
Exporters of coffee, cashew nuts, furniture, handicrafts and several other food and non-food products can export their products in a green way. Products can be processed, packed, disinfected and exported insect free without the use of any chemicals in a very modern BRC and HACCP certified terminal.
Disinfection takes place by means of the EcO2Controlled At mosphere technique to control insects, larvae en eggs in a natural way. In this way the environmental policy of the seller or retailer can be retained throughout the value chain adding high value, safety and quality to the product.

To offer better service to the shipping companies who call
in at the port of Amsterdam, EcO2 co-operates
with Ceres Paragon Terminals Amsterdam and
together we realized a treatment terminal at the Ceres Terminal
(Ruijgoordweg 100) in Amsterdam. At the treatment terminal,
import and export containers can be treated for Quarantine
and Pre-shipment (QPS) according the international
regulation ISPM no. 15. The treatment terminal at Ceres is
just like any other treatment terminal of EcO2,
registered and certified with the Dutch Stichting Markering
Houten Verpakkingen for treatment of wood packaging material.
Wood packaging material, present in the container, is treated
with the EcO2 QPS treatment. This treatment
is a combination of Heattreatment (56 °C in the core of
the wood) and Controlled Atmosphere to prevent the loaded
cargo against oxidation. The loaded containers and wood packaging
material are
treated as one. After treatment everything is marked and completed
with a treatment certificate.
Besides the QPS treatments, EcO2 also
offers the service for measuring import containers at the
terminal. Incoming containers may contain toxic gasses, which
can cause dangerous situations for the personnel. To minimise
the risks for your employees, it is advisable to contact an
expert to perform a measurement on the presence of toxic gasses
before the containers are opened. The measurements are taken
outside and inside the containers (also between the
cargo). The specialists of EcO2 are
24 hours available for gas measurements of your containers.
When the container reaches the prescribed MAC Level (Maximum
Acceptable Concentration), we provide a gas-free statement.
When a container contains high concentrations of gas, the
container needs to be defumigated. In the Netherlands, containers
can only be given free when
they have reached the right MAC-Level. Traditional defumigation
takes place in the open air and at specific locations, where
there is a safety zone of 100 meters. Defumigation in the
open air can take a long time and strongly depends on humidity
and atmospheric temperatures. For effective and quick
defumigation of containers you can use the EcO2
container defumigation installation (ECO). Through forced
air circulation and filtering of the present air in the container
through a sophisticated filter system, the container is safely
defumigated without affecting the environment.
Customised treatments
EcO2 not
only offers you technologies to control insects. We also offer
companies the service to carry out customised treatments.
For example, a special treatment for identification of micro-organism
in food commodities, a special treatment to demonstrate the
heat rate of dried fruits or treatment of art and cultural
heritage which must be treated under certain atmospheric conditions
(e.g. lower temperatures to not affect the paint). For all
of these, the treatment technologies of EcO2
